Dear Colleague,
LNER TRAIN MANAGERS WORKING – FURTHER UPDATE
Further to Head Office Circular NP/205/20, dated 21st August 2020, your Regional Organiser has advised me that RMT representatives have reported significant progress in regards to the reintroduction of commercial duties affecting our Train Manager Discipline in LNER.
Revised documentation, such as a Revenue Duty Risk Assessment and respective Safety Information, has been provided, which has been formulated in conjunction with the management team of LNER and duly agreed by our representatives.
Your representatives are content with proceedings and asked the NEC to review and possibly support and endorse the reintroduction.
Your NEC carried the following resolution at its meeting on 11th September 2020:
We note the updated report from the Lead Officer on the Train Managers Return to Work plan, the documents provided give a full comprehensive Risk Assessments carried out by our team of Lead Health & Safety Reps & the LNER Convener, it’s a clear approved methodology addressing all concerns the Members might raise, but also covers the issue of At Risk staff, where all additional safety measures are in place, therefore we instruct the General Secretary to our acceptance but as Covid 19 is a fluid moving disease & that monitoring of the situation & guidance will continue by your Health & Safety Reps & that any changes be placed back before the NEC asap.
All Members to be advised by Text and E-Mail
Branches & Regional Councils to be informed
I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep you informed of developments. Please make the contents of this Circular available to all appropriate members.
Yours sincerely
Steve Hedley
Senior Assistant General Secretary
