LONE WORKING – NETWORK RAIL
The National Conference of Engineering Grades submitted a resolution which was considered by the General Grades Committee. Their decision is as follows:
“That we welcome the resolution from our National Conference of Engineering Grades and the sentiments expressed within.
Lone working brings unacceptable risk to our members especially those who find themselves working in remote areas.
Therefore we instruct the General Secretary to ensure that this matter is raised with the National Safety Council making it clear that this union is opposed to lone working.”
A similar resolution titled ‘Network Rail – Individual Working Alone’ has been received from Derby Branch and both items have been discussed at the Joint Safety Council. The company has agreed to work with the RMT to produce a company standard and further developments will be reported back to you once available.
