Dear Colleague

LUL – NOISE LEVELS ON THE CENTRAL LINE – RE-BALLOT

Further to Head Office Circular NP/281/24, dated20th November 2024, your NEC has considered an updated report from your lead officer, noting that RMT currently has a live mandate for industrial action on the Victoria Line in furtherance of our dispute regarding track noise; this mandate expires on 14th April 2025.

My Tier 2 Train reps report that RMT members and reps on the Central Line continue to make no progress in addressing noise on that line and they wish to be re-balloted. A previous ballot on central Line members failed to reach the threshold.

In line with the reports from our T2 and local reps, your lead officer has recommended that we commence this re-ballot.

At its meeting on 27th February 2025, your NEC resolved as follows:

That we note the report from the Lead Officer.

Accordingly, we instruct the General Secretary to commence a ballot of affected Central Line members for strike action and action short of a strike, namely “driving in protected manual”.

Branch and affected members to be informed by email and text.

The re-ballot of members will take place between Tuesday 11th March and Tuesday 1st April.

Please bring this circular to the attention of all relevant members.

            Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch

General Secretary
