Dear Colleague

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK

10th - 16th MAY 2021

I write further to Head Office circular, reference number NP/109/21 “RMT Members Mental Health” to encourage participation in Mental Health Awareness Week which takes place from Monday 10th to Friday 16th May 2021.

Mental Health Awareness week takes place every year and each year there is a different theme for the week. The theme this year is nature and the environment.

Find out more on how to get involved www.mentalhealth.org.uk/campaigns/mental-health-awareness-week and also at MIND, the mental health charity https://www.mind.org.uk/get-involved/mental-health-awareness-week/ (where you will be able to find resources over the coming weeks).

Millions have suffered from mental health problems during the pandemic. RMT members have felt the full brunt of this, experiencing problems both at home and at work.

We know that here has been a continuing upsurge in mental health cases right across the UK many of which many are directly linked to the pandemic and all the other issues associated with it, such as employment security, layoffs, home working etc resulting in poor mental health affecting our members both at home and at work.

Given this please do your utmost to organise an event to raise awareness of this very important week.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash

General Secretary
