Dear Colleague

NETWORK RAIL – ARRANGEMENTS FOR STORM ÉOWYN

I have received a number of complaints from members regarding Network Rail’s arrangements for Storm Éowyn.

Typically, whilst our frontline members are out in extreme weather (except during the specified Red Warning period), many of the company’s administrative and managerial staff are cancelling meetings and reverting to home working, as they did during the pandemic.

I have therefore expressed the disappointment of members, who once again feel second class in a two-tier workforce, to Network Rail’s Chief Executive Officer.

It is my belief that his administrative and especially managerial staff should be setting an example.

Please bring this circular to the attention of relevant members.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Lynch

General Secretary
