NETWORK RAIL – DRUG & ALCOHOL TESTING CHANGES

 

Further to Head Office Circular NP/030/25, dated 25^th January 2025, following receipt of a resolution from your York and District branch which included concerns over types of medication restrictions, and there appearing to be no appeals process regarding types of medication in place.

 

At its meeting on 27^th March 2025 your National Executive Committee noted and adopted the following report from its health and safety subcommittee:

 

We note the resolution from our York and District branch, for which it is thanked.

 

We note that our lead health and safety representatives have undertaken their duty appropriately.

 

The General Secretary is instructed to ensure the other concerns expressed by the branch are raised with the company through the appropriate machinery.

 

The General Secretary is further instructed to provide an updated report to be placed back before this NEC.

 

We note the report from our lead reps and that they are broadly content with the company’s proposed changes to the policy.

 

The General Secretary is instructed to write to the company noting the proposed changes and posing any questions raised by our lead safety representatives.

 

Branches and regional councils to be informed.
