Dear Colleague
Network Rail – Electronic Driving Licence Checks
Further to Head Office Circular NP/114/17, 20th July 2017, in which I advised you that since the introduction of Vehicles Tracking Systems in Network Rail vehicles there appeared to be a move on management behalf to subvert the agreement we reached with the company in this matter.
I would reiterate that the RMT have made no agreement, nor have not been involved in any discussions with the company to make changes to the current processes. Circular NP/138/15 states that those staff who do not wish to have their eligibility to drive checked through a third party would be able to continue to confirm their eligibility to drive through the completion of a manual form.
The new process appears to require staff to get a onetime code from DVLA and with management in attendance take a screen shot of the member of staff’s driving licence and any penalties that have been applied. This process will be repeated every 6 months. This process does not appear to require the sharing of data with a third party.
Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of all relevant members.
Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
General Secretary
