NETWORK RAIL – GEO TECH (GEO-FENCING)

I write in connection with a report I received from the Lead Officer relating to Geo Technology Strategy Programme Board (Geo Tech) - and correspondence from Network Rail in which they explain the outcomes of their testing of three Geo-Fencing product suppliers’ equipment.  

 

At its meeting on 2^nd April 2024 your National Executive Committee met to consider a report from its Health and Safety subcommittee from when it met to consider the above and adopted the following: 

 

We instruct the General Secretary to thank RMT NWR, Lead Representative, Chris Knibbs for his comprehensive report on the Geo Warning Strategy Programme Board (GWSPB). 

We note the correspondence from Network Rail dated 27^th March 2024 and in connection with this see that the Company: 

-  are consultation with trade unions as regards the testing of geo tech equipment 

- has issued “Safety advice, Geofencing Immediate Advice” to all Network Rail line managers.

 

We agree that the NWR RMT Lead representatives should continue to work as part of the company consultation on Geo-Fencing.  The General Secretary is instructed to request update reports as the consultation progresses.

 

Branches and Regional Councils to be advised accordingly.
