Dear Colleague
Network Rail – Life Saving Rules Policy – Fair Culture Review
There has been real concern by RMT that the company were only paying lip service to the fair culture agreement, and that the company’s actions, particularly in relation to the 20+ mph events have led branches to correspond with their trade union airing concerns with the entire fair culture process.
The National Executive Committee made the following decision:
We note the report on file. The General Secretary is instructed to write to the company stating that we regard the present operation of the policy as an abuse of the Fair Culture and the Disciplinary policies. Therefore, we seek a clear commitment that there will not be mandatory gross misconduct charges or dismissals. Sanctions for driving events should only relate to driving duties. We further note that a meeting to discuss these matters has not taken place as promised and further instruct the General Secretary to demand a meeting before the end of October 2017
Branches and Regional Councils be advised.
Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.
Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
General Secretary
