Network Rail – Mobile Maintenance Train

Further to Head Office Circular NP/146/15, 4th August 2015 a further meeting has been held with the company to set out the RMT’s position with regards to the protection arrangements to be adopted for this type of working. On considering a report of the meeting the General Grades Committee have noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note the report on file and re-affirm our previous position on suitable forms of secondary protection for these machines. We instruct the General Secretary to arrange for RMT representatives to attend the workshop being proposed by the company. Our representatives to be the Health and Safety Officer, and the relevant Lead Union Health and Safety Reps and Maintenance Co-ordinators.

A report from our representatives is to be placed back in front of this General Grades Committee.

Branches and Regional Councils be advised.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep you informed of any further developments. Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of all relevant members.
