Network Rail – OHL Unimog 400

Our Ref: HSR/2/10
Head Office Circular: NP/094/17
23rd June 2017

The Secretary
ALL BRANCHES
ALL REGIONAL COUNCILS

Dear Colleague

Network Rail – OHL Unimog 400

The maintenance programme for the OHL Unimog 400 clearly states that the machine must be on a traditional set of parallel running rails. Members have become aware that this is not being done as stated to the correct process and have cause for concern over damage to the circumference of the steel wheel, as they are being repaired or maintained on a plain flat concrete surface. There may be similar occurrences elsewhere across the network. Members are asked to be vigilant on the matter. On considering our members’ safety concerns the National Executive Committee have noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note the sentiments of the resolution from Glasgow No5 Branch and instruct the General Secretary to take those concerns up with the company inline with the resolution.

All relevant Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.

I am in the process of carrying out that those instructions

Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of all relevant members.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
