ALL REGIONAL COUNCILS

Dear Colleague

Network Rail – Track Worker Protection 019+

Further to my previous circular NP/080/17, 25th May 2017, the company have responded to the concerns raised with them following our last Decision. On considering the correspondence and reports of further meetings between the company and our representatives the National Executive Committee have noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note the response on file from the company and that they have acknowledged many of our concerns. We also note the company intend to press ahead with their own ‘go-live’ criteria. Further detailed consideration of this matter will take place with this National Executive Committee and our Lead Industrial and Health and Safety Representatives at their scheduled quarterly meeting on 4th July 2017.

While we will continue to engage in dialogue with Network Rail on this issue RMT remain unable to endorse this proposal and are opposed to the company’s implementation plan in its current form. The General Secretary is instructed to inform the company of our position.

During continued consultation with our representatives we are informed that there is no support for a dispute on this issue but the National Executive Committee will keep this under consideration.
Branches and Regional Councils be advised.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions. Please bring the contents of this Circular to the attention of relevant members.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
