NETWORK RAIL – VEHICLE SPEED WARNING SYSTEM (VSWS)

Further to Head Office Circular NP/195/22, dated 16th September 2022, correspondence has been received from the company confirming that cameras:

will only record footage outside the vehicle
will not record any audio or visual footage within any vehicle
will be used to capture data in the event of vehicle collisions to assist safety investigations or insurance claims regarding our vehicles and staff
will not be utilised to monitor staff location.

Your National Executive Committee, at its meeting on 8th November, noted and adopted the following report from its Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note the correspondence on file from Network Rail.

The General Secretary is instructed to write to the company noting its position.

Branches and Regional Councils to be informed.
