Dear Colleague,

Further to Head Office Circular NP/33/18, 16th February 2018, there have been a number of meetings to discuss the company’s use of data from the vehicle speed warning system. The company have now clarified their position. On considering a report on this matter the NEC have noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note the correspondence from NR and the undertaking that they will not use VSWS data for non-fair culture disciplinary’s, and that previous commitments given on VSWS data use will remain in place. The General Secretary is instructed to write to Network Rail acknowledging their undertaking and noting that we await their further considerations on the issue.

Branches and Regional Councils to be informed and a copy of the company’s letter to be circulated.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions. Please find attached a copy of the letter from the company. Please make the contents of this circular available to all appropriate members.
