Dear Colleague
NETWORK RAIL – WELFARE FACILITIES – REMIT AND QUESTIONNAIRE
Following this week’s National Health, Safety and Welfare Council meeting, I have agreed to share the Welfare Facilities questionnaire link below to members nationally in order to gain more responses. TSSA are acting in a similar vein.
Please find the link to the IRIS Questionnaire (below) for undertaking the survey into the provision of Welfare Facilities at permanent locations and temporary worksites.
Assure - Portal (sheassure.net)
The questionnaire measures compliance to Regulations 20 to 25 of the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 at permanent locations and to Network Rail standard NR/L3/INI/CP0036 (Issue 4) for temporary worksites.
These areas are covered in 13 short sections:
Section 1 |
Workplace Capacity & Utilisation |
Sections 2 - 5 |
Sanitary Conveniences & Washing Facilities – number, standard, cleanliness & inclusivity |
Section 6 |
Drinking Water |
Sections 7 - 8 |
Accommodation for clothing & facilities for changing |
Sections 9 - 10 |
Facilities to rest & to eat meals |
Sections 11 - 13 |
Temporary Worksites |
There are options following each question to add any comments or upload photographs.
The form can capture information from up to three Temporary Worksites. The appraisal of Safe Work Packs is the suggested means of gathering this information however, any alternative approach can be used to gain knowledge of how welfare facilities were planned, what facilities were provided and worker feedback on their suitability.
Once clicked on the link above, please select the form shown below and follow the questions through to completion. If you have any issues or concerns please email IRIS@networkrail.co.uk.
Thank you for agreeing to assist the company in gathering information on this concern so it can take appropriate action.
Please bring this circular to the attention of all relevant members.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
