Dear Colleague,

NETWORK RAIL – WORKING IN EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS

I write as regards a report I received from the Lead Officer about a meeting with Network Rail to discuss how working in extreme weather conditions can pose a real threat to the health and safety of many Network Rail’s employees – and the preparedness and reactivity of the Company when extreme weather arises.

At its meeting on 2nd April 2024 your National Executive Committee met to consider a report from its Health and Safety subcommittee from when it met to discuss the above and adopted the following:

The General Secretary is instructed to place the report from the Lead Officer on file, and to bring any further updates to the attention of the NEC.

Branches and Regional Councils to be advised accordingly.

I am acting in line with these instructions. Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch

General Secretary
