Dear Colleague
NETWORK RAIL – HEALTH CHECK AND TRACKER TRIAL
Network Rail have set up a trial of a new health initiative, on a voluntary basis, for up to 1,000 employees. The trial will last six months and is aimed at promoting better health and wellness.
The trial will consist of initial tests being carried out on the volunteers to test cholesterol, blood pressure and body composition as well as a fitness test and questions about how productive the employee perceives themselves to be.
Volunteers on the trial will have funded access to an online health tool that will allow them to securely record their health markers as well as record the amount of activity and exercise they have taken. At the end of the trial the initial health checks will then be offered again to see if their results have improved.
On considering a report of the trial the General Grades Committee noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:
We note that our representative on this trial is Bro. J Thomas, Lead Union Health and Safety Representative. We instruct Bro. Thomas to provide updates and reports on the progress and outcomes of the trials. We note the reassurance that no individual data will be disclosed to the company.
Branches and Regional Councils to be informed.
I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep you informed of developments with this case.
Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.
Yours sincerely
Bob Crow
General Secretary
