NETWORK RAIL – IT50

Following a trial in the Hitchen area allowing trains to operate above permitted speeds during Single Line and Temporary Block Working over facing and trailing points the General Grades Committee noted and adopted the following report from their Health and Safety Sub-committee:

That we note the reports and correspondence on file concerning the IT50 trial and the proposals to increase the speed of trains during Single Line Working SLW) and Temporary Block Working (TBW) over facing and trailing points from the current 15mph to up to 50mph and that trials have taken place in the Hitchen area.

The General Secretary is instructed to write to ASLE&F to ascertain their views on this matter.

A summary of the proposals to be Circularised.

Please find attached a summary of these proposals.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep you informed of developments with this case.

Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.
