NETWORK RAIL – KENT ROUTE WORKSITE X PROPOSAL

 

I recently received correspondence from Network Rail regarding worksite X – alteration to Possession arrangements. In which the Company explain measures they have implemented to improve track worker safety. NR explain that although Worksite X has been used for a number of years, Southern Region has trialled an improved version and they have been successful in gaining a national deviation.

 

            At its meeting on 12^th December 2024, your National Executive Committee noted and adopted the following report from its Health and Safety sub-committee from when it met to consider this correspondence:

      

We note the paperwork received from Network Rail and the report received from the lead officer. 

 

We instruct the GS to respond to Network Rail, to thank them for their correspondence and to explain that Network Rail must engage and work collaboratively with the RMT and our H&S Reps and to keep us informed about its progress. 

 

For the General Secretary to explain in his letter that Worksite X is only to be deployed for patrol and inspection tasks (OHL/Track etc) between intermediate worksites and cannot be used between the outer Worksite Markerboard and Possession Limit Board/s and Detonators.

 

Branches and Regional Councils to be informed accordingly.
