To: The Secretary
ALL BRANCHES
ALL REGIONAL COUNCILS

Dear Colleague,

NETWORK RAIL – LIVE LINE INDICATORS WORKING GROUP

Following RMT’s decision to withdraw from the Live Line Indicators Working Group, further discussions have taken place between your Lead Union Health and Safety Representatives (LUHSRs) and the company. The LUHSRs agreed to recommend re-engagement with the company in this Working Group. On 6th October 2020 your National Executive Committee noted and adopted the following report from its Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note the letter from Network Rail and the views of the RMT Lead Union Health and Safety Representatives and the Network Rail Lead Officer.

The General Secretary is instructed to write to the company inform it of the RMT’s decision to re-engage in the Live Line Indicator Working Group, with the rider that we explicitly re-state our opposition to the continued use of HVD03/2D testers by the contractor community and reiterate our warning that company’s failure to get the new kit by our proposed October deadline is endangering the safety of the contractor community and placing them at risk of electrocution.

Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.

All relevant members to be informed via email and text and advised that should they feel that their safety is compromised then they should invoke the company’s Worksafe Procedure.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep you informed of developments. Please make the contents of this Circular available to all appropriate members.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
