NETWORK RAIL (NR) - SIGNALLER VERIFICATION FOR LINE BLOCKAGES

 

I write further to Head Office Circular NP/65/23 dated 31^st March 2023, to explain that your National Executive Committee (NEC) met on 30^th May to consider a report received from the Lead Officer about a meeting convened with NR lead reps and RMT Health and Safety department to consider the issue of signaller verification for line blockages. 

 

At this meeting they concluded that: where the Company decide they need 2^nd signaller verification for line blockages - that this process needs to be subject to a full process of risk assessment, consultation and briefing before implementation. 

 

At its meeting, your NEC adopted the following report:

 

We note the report on file and that a meeting has occurred with our Network Rail lead representatives, SAGS and our Health and Safety Department. Accordingly, we instruct the General Secretary to take this matter up with the company in line with the report and further update to be placed before this NEC. 

 

Relevant members, Branches and Regional Councils are to be informed by text and email.
