NETWORK RAIL OPERATIONS – PROPOSED INTRODUCTION OF AIRWAVE RADIO AT NETWORK RAIL MANAGED STATIONS

A report from our National Operations Council representatives on the introduction of Airwaves Radio at NR Managed Stations has been received, the report contained details of the company’s proposals in this regard and is the commencement of National Consultation, this item will need to be further agreed at Route and at Local level, before implementation. The report has been considered by the National Executive Committee at their meeting of 18th June 2020 where they adopted the following report:

We note the report received from National Operations Reps on this issue. Subject to full consultation with Health & Safety, Local & Route Level and full training programs to be agreed with this union and an agreed template guidance document supplied to each station to facilitate proper introduction. We are happy for the acceptance of use of these radios at Managed stations to be used by relevant grades outlined in the report. Further updates to be placed before this NEC.

I am acting in accordance with this instruction and will keep you informed of developments. I have indicated to NR that the RMT will be amenable to the introduction of airwaves radios as proposed, subject to full consultation and training as above. Please bring the contents of this Circular to the attention of relevant members.
