REGIONAL COUNCILS

Dear Colleague,

NETWORK RAIL – RAILHUB CONSULTATION

FOR THE ATTENTION OF ALL NETWORK RAIL EMPLOYEES

Your Liverpool no. 5 Branch submitted the following resolution:

Liverpool 5 branch requests the NEC instructs the General Secretary writes to Network Rail and instructs them to set up a National meeting in regards to the following RailHub issues. There are issues with the system that will have safety implications on our members. Some of the issue and questions that need to be raised are as follows.

Software issues and the time they take to fix.

What has been put in place to allow the system to be updated when a fix is required?

What has been looked at to assist staff in areas where the Planners and Managers are struggling with work load?

Work arounds are being created and are often due to poor training. This could be avoided if we utilise our own staff rather than trainers who have only had roughly 20 hours of training and no on track experience.

The training app that has been created is not getting utilised which means that staffs first interaction with the software will be in the training class or going live on track. We believe that every day, people are going out on track and risking the safety of the teams, worrying more about pressing the wrong buttons or managing to get the pack verified than having their focus on where it should be, the safety of the site.

This branch also requests the go live date in the North West is paused until the national meeting has taken place and the issues raised addressed.

Your National Executive Committee (NEC), at its meeting on 24th May, resolved as follows:

We note and welcome the resolution of our Liverpool 5 branch and agree with the sentiments therein.

Further we note that this issue has now been taken up in line with the resolution and is currently back at the appropriate level of the Network Rail machinery.

We therefore instruct the General Secretary to place all further updates and developments back before this NEC.

All branches and regional councils to be advised.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions.

Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch

General Secretary
