Network Rail Sentinel Scheme Rules

Our Ref: HSR/1/1
Head Office Circular NP/180/20
22nd July 2020

The Secretary

Dear Colleague

Further to Head Office Circular NP/151/20, 22nd June 2020 an affirmative response to our demand for an appeal process has been received from Network Rail. In their letter the company stated “that representation has always been permitted where Sentinel appeal hearings are offered to appellants. We will however review the process and standard correspondence, amending as necessary, to more clearly make managers and those subject of Sentinel sanctions aware of the right of representation.”

In considering the company’s response the National Executive Committee noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note the correspondence on file from the company and welcome its response. General Secretary is instructed to write to the company instructing them that the agreed advice needs to be communicated to all Sentinel Sponsors and to all Sentinel card holders.

Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep you advised of further developments. Please bring the contents of this Circular to the attention of relevant members.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
