Dear Colleague

NETWORK RAIL – SIGNALLER REST BREAK ASSESSMENT PROCESS

The RMT Lead Union H&S representative South forwarded a Signaller Rest Break Assessment process that the RMT working group has been considering with Network Rail to address and resolve the issue of how to achieve rest breaks for our signallers and level crossing keepers in single person locations.

It is envisaged that application of the new process should lead to additional posts in most routes. The recommendation of the RMT working group was to adopt the proposal. The Company wishes to set up another meeting with the working group to review any feedback or recommendations the National Executive Committee may have and/ or agree how to implement.

Your National Executive Committee agreed the following:

That we note the latest correspondence on file including a recommendation from the working group to adopt the proposals.

We therefore instruct the General Secretary to advise the Company of our acceptance of the proposals. We also instruct the General Secretary to seek update reports from our National Operations Council reps and lead Health and Safety reps into working groups involving workload and rest break provision as a matter of urgency, including locations that have two and three signallers working.

Branches and Members to be informed by email and text message.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep you informed of developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
