NETWORK RAIL – TRACK WORKER SAFETY INITIATIVE

Following the deaths of two RMT members in Margam, South Wales on 3rd July Network Rail wrote a letter to the RMT outlining their plan to set up a Track Worker Task Force with £70 million worth of funding to ensure workforce safety has the focus and resources required.

This correspondence was considered by the NEC at their meeting of 22nd October 2019 where they noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note the correspondence on file from Network Rail. We also note there are a number of further initiatives in progress. We instruct the General Secretary to place a full report into these various initiatives back in front of this National Executive Committee.
