Dear Colleague,

NETWORK RAIL – VEHICLE SPEED WARNING SYSTEM (VSWS)

Further to Head Office Circular NP/474/21, dated 24th December 2021, your National Executive Committee (NEC) met on 3rd February 2022, to discuss a correspondence received from Network Rail.

The NEC noted and adopted the following report from its Health and Safety sub-committee:

We believe that negotiations between RMT and the company have been exhausted and, although we have shifted the company’s position in part, not all of RMT’s demands have been met by the company. However, the case put forward for its position on the speeding element is reasonable.

The General Secretary is therefore instructed to write to Network Rail noting its position and that consultation is now closed.

Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.
