NETWORK RAIL –VEHICLE WELFARE FACILITIES
Network Rail has purchased a fleet of new Ford transit road vehicles. During this buying process there has been no consultation with RMT over how the vehicles are to be fitted out for safe use, as a result and as they stand the vehicles are not fit for purpose. Your National Executive Committee have noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:
“That we note the report from our representatives and that yet again Network Rail have commenced purchase and roll-out of new vehicles without consultation with this union at any level of the machinery. Therefore, the General Secretary is instructed to raise this matter seeking urgent consultation on these vehicles and that their appropriateness and fitness for purpose. The General Secretary is further instructed to ensure that Network Rail is aware of our demand and that our members have the right to expect decent standards of messing, welfare and sanitary provisions while on duty. Further developments to be placed before this National Executive Committee. Relevant Branches and Regional Councils to be informed.”
