NETWORK RAIL- WORK AT HEIGHTS ON TELECOMS ASSETS

I have been made aware of Network Rail’s “Working at Height when accessing Telecoms assets” Work Instruction (NR/L3/TEL/3005).

At its meeting on 18th February the NEC noted and adopted the following resolution:

We note the proposal from the company and further note the concerns of our representatives over the company’s plans. The General Secretary is instructed to inform the company that their proposal is completely unacceptable to this Union. Our concerns on local risk assessment and the lack of a third person on site could lead to tragic consequences. The General Secretary is further instructed to place a report back in front of this National Executive Committee.

All Branches and Regional Councils to be informed.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep you informed of developments. Please make the contents of this Circular available to all appropriate members.
