Dear Colleague,
Northern Trains – Class 331/195 Automatic Selective Door Opening
Further to my previous circular NP/278/19 you will be aware of trials over the proposal for an ASDO method of working with the introduction of class 195 & 331 rolling stock. Further meetings have taken place with RMT reps and the Lead Officer on the matter.
Your National Executive Committee has agreed the following;
“We note the latest report from our lead officer and email correspondence between our lead officer and the company director. Firstly we are disappointed at the apparent rejection of our request for a joint meeting with our sister union ASLEF to discuss the matter with ourselves and the company. Therefore we instruct the General Secretary to write directly to the General Secretary of ASLEF outlining our current position on this matter and to request a meeting of our respective parties to ensure all relevant parties are satisfied with the proposed method of work moving forwards.
Furthermore we instruct the General Secretary to accept the offer of a meeting between our lead officer and the company director and to accept the offer of a further meeting between our Health and Safety representative, a company council representative and the lead company operational standards manager to address our concerns.
A further report to be placed back in front of this NEC once both these meetings have taken place.
All affected members, Branches and Regional Councils to be advised”.
I am acting in accordance with these instructions.
Please make the contents of this circular available to all appropriate members.
Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
General Secretary
