Dear Colleague,

PANDEMIC HEALTH & SAFETY CONCERNS – CHILTERN RAILWAY

I was very disappointed to hear from your RMT Regional Organiser recently of incidents which indicate that a number of Chiltern Railways managers have complete disregard for Covid-19 control measures. Through such behaviour they are potentially putting the health and safety of RMT members at grave risk.

Because of this and in light of the new more contagious variant of the virus, the RMT National Executive Committee adopted the resolution as below when they met on 22 January 2021:

We note the report received from Regional Organiser and are deeply concerned what effect this pandemic is having on our members at Chiltern Railways.

The General Secretary is instructed to write to company informing them we are in dispute over these matters and demand our Health & Safety representatives are released to review existing risk assessments in light of the new variant and local management teams are issued with clear guidance on adhering to controls in place designed to protect our members and travelling public.

Reps, Regional Councils & Branches to be advised.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep you informed of developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
