Dear Colleague,

ROLLING STOCK VENTILATION: COVID-19

Further to Head Office Circular NP/15/22, dated 20th January 2022, your National Executive Committee (NEC) met on 3rd March 2022 to discuss a report from its Health and Safety sub-committee relating to correspondence received from RSSB, following a further letter I sent regarding the importance of good ventilation in halting the spread of Covid-19 and enquiring what research was being undertaken.

In connection with this the NEC noted and adopted the following report:

The General Secretary is instructed to issue guidance to RMT health and safety reps for on board train members advising that they demand their employers share information on CO2 levels on the trains they/their members work and that employers advise on necessary actions when HVAC systems are not working.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep members advised of any developments.

Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.
