Dear Colleague,

SMOKING ON RFA (ROYAL FLEET AUXILIARY) VESSELS

Further to Head Office Circular NP/220/21, dated 24th June 2021, your National Executive Committee, at its meeting on 27th July 2021 met to consider legal advice received in relation to the RFA decision to introduce a Ministry of Defence total ban on smoking onboard RFA ships from June 1st 2021. In connection with this the NEC resolved as follows:

That we note the updated report and Legal opinion on file.

We therefore instruct the General Secretary to convene a meeting with the Lead Officer, RFA Convenor and NEC.

Additionally, the General Secretary is requested to gather all minutes around discussions that have taken place with the RFA on this matter in the last 12 months prior to the meeting and place them before this NEC.

Members, branches and Regional Councils to be informed.
