Dear Colleague,

STATION STAFF REPORTING INCIDENTS TO POLICE

Your National Industrial Organising Conference of Station & Associated Grades 2022 carried the following resolution:

We ask this Conference to support the following resolution.

There have been instances where staff have reported incidents to BTP and when asked for a statement they are told they need to provide all their personal details.

This has resulted in some staff having their information shared by the police.

Other grades do not do this and are only required to give their payroll number or badge number and the home location.

We ask this Conference to push this and get parity with other grades to protect our members.

At its meeting on 23rd August 2022, your National Executive Committee resolved as follows:

We note the resolution from our NIOC of Station and Associated Grades. This NEC agrees with the concerns raised, the General Secretary is instructed to raise the issue of anonymity with British Transport police and place any correspondence back to this NEC.

Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.

I am acting in line with these instructions. Please bring the contents of this circular and the attached document to the attention of relevant members.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch

General Secretary
