Dear Colleague

STENA LINE LOCH RYAN PORT RMT VISIT

Please see below a message from your National Secretary Darren Procter:

Many thanks for those members who met with myself and your elected RMT convenor, Michael Hobson on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.  As identified, we want to ensure that we are better organised than ever before, and this can only be achieved through the development of an active membership who are identifying the priorities that you wish the union to take up on your behalf.

It was good to see some of your colleagues sign up and join the union whilst we were in attendance but I would respectfully request that all members have conversations with those individuals who are not currently a member of RMT and encourage them to be a part of the collective and stand shoulder to shoulder with RMT members in Loch Ryan port and develop the priorities of the membership that are important to you.  It is vital that Loch Ryan has a voice and what may be a priority in another port may not be relevant to you and your colleagues, so you need set your direction of travel by being better organised.

We identified the need to ensure that we have RMT health and safety reps and as such I would further encourage engagement amongst members to identify individuals who would be good at this role and be supported by yourself and your colleagues as well as local, regional and national officials of the union.

We will be seeking to visit the port and set up further meetings on a regular basis but would appreciate a concentrated effort in the port to achieve 100% membership and increased activity.

Best Regards

Darren Procter

Yours sincerely

Eddie Dempsey
