Dear Colleague,

SWR H&S REPRESENTATIVES

The RMT Portsmouth Branch submitted the following motion:
Throughout the COVID 19 pandemic the RMT (Retail) H&S Representatives have been 'on hold', with no release to carry out agreed Health & Safety walk/duties. Guards and sister union representatives have continued to carry out health and safety walks. The only activity H&S Representatives have been involved in has been to review risk assessment's relating to COVID 19.

The Branch calls upon the NEC to instructed the General Secretary to write to South Western Railway as a matter of urgency to ensure all health and safety walks and meetings talk place as a matter of urgency, of all locations and additionally visit all locations that should have been visited in the previous 12 weeks.

At its meeting on 17th June your NEC noted and adopted the following resolution:
That we note the sentiments contained within our Portsmouth Branch resolution.

We are concerned to hear that during the COVID-19 pandemic the RMT (Retail) H&S Representatives have been 'on hold', with no release to carry out agreed Health & Safety walk. After further discussion with the local rep this issue have been exacerbated by an equally unclear reporting line to escalate and resolve these very important issues.

We therefore instruct the General Secretary to have our Regional Organiser investigate and take up the issues contained in the resolution with the Company.

All further developments to be placed back before us.

SWR relevant Branches and Regional Council to be advised via email.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep you informed of developments. Please make the contents of this Circular available to all appropriate members.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
