Dear Colleague

SWR HEALTH AND SAFETY REPRESENTATIVES

Further to Head Office Circular NP/147/20, 18th June 2020 an additional report has been received from the Regional Organiser. On considering this report the National Exceutive Committee have noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note the report on file from the Regional Organiser and that the suspension of health and safety walks appears to have been due to the company putting pressure on the Company Council. Neither of these parties should be able to do this without discussions taking place with the health and safety representatives. The ability of our health and safety representatives to undertake their legal rights to carry out workplace inspections to protect the workers that they serve must be protected.

General Secretary is instructed to write to the company advising it of this. General Secretary is further instructed to raise our concerns that we do not believe the Health and Safety Procedure agreement is fit for purpose and should be reviewed with all parties as a matter of urgency.

Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep you informed on developments with this case.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
