Dear Colleague

TfL NHS COVID-19 APP AT WORK

A report into TfL managements’ actions in demanding that workers turn of the NHS Covid Track and Trace app when in company offices on the grounds that TfL provided “Covid secure workplaces”. On considering the report the National Executive Committee noted and adopted the following report of its Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note the reports from the Regional Organiser in response to the correspondence received from TfL. The General Secretary is instructed to write to TfL demanding that the instruction to “turn off tracking” is removed; Government advice on Covid-19 Track and Tracing and shielding must take precedence over any employer guidance. RMT members have a right to protect their personal health and safety by withdrawing themselves from their place of work if they feel their health or safety is endangered. RMT believes that LUL is not managing positive tests at all robustly or effectively enough, stating that it relies on the workplace being “Covid secure”, a position in which RMT has no confidence.

Any updates to be placed before this NEC.

Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.

All members to be informed via text and email.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep you advised of developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
