Head Office Circular NP/311/24
23rd December 2024
To: The Secretary
ALL BRANCHES
REGIONAL COUNCILS
Dear Colleague
TfL – FACILITIES, STRUCTURES AND HEALTH & SAFETY
Your London Transport Regional Council submitted the following resolution:
This branch notes the report published on 12th October 2024 and is seriously concerned with TFL’s unmanaged decay of the company’s facilities and structures. The day-to-day remedial repair management of our depots, accommodation and buildings are at an all-time low level of reaching Health, Safety and Welfare standards.
Many structures have leaking roofs, ceiling and wall structural issues and unacceptable conditions to work and be based at. A large percentage of the issues have been outstanding for years.
This branch calls on our regional council:
● To support and organise a demonstration outside Palestra to highlight the conditions
their staff have to work in.
● Head office to publish the demo and concerns with the media.
● Call for the GS to arrange an urgent meeting with the mayor to raise our concerns.
At its meeting on 12th December 2024 your NEC noted and adopted the following report from its health and safety subcommittee:
We note the resolution form the London Transport Regional Council, for which it is thanked.
The General Secretary is instructed to seek a report from the lead officer in order to establish exactly where we are in the machinery, in order for a campaign to be built. The General Secretary is further instructed to request that the regional council forward any information and/or images to the lead officer to supplement his report.
Relevant branches and regional councils to be informed.
I am acting in line with these instructions.
Please bring this circular to the attention of relevant members.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
