Dear Colleague

Traction Training During Lockdown - EMR

I write to inform you that I recently received a report from your RMT Relief Regional Organiser (South) relating to a meeting of the EMR on Train Covid Working group at which a discussion took place in reference to the heightened risk of infection while undertaking traction training. In connection with this, the RMT National Executive Committee met on 21 January and adopted the following resolution:

That we note and adopt the report from our Health and safety sub committee We note the report from the Regional Organiser.

For your information, the decision of the NEC health and safety sub committee referred to above was as follows:

The General Secretary is instructed to write to EMR demanding that this training remain suspended whilst the threat of Covid infection remains during the current lockdown, and will only resume once Risk Assessments have been agreed.

Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.

I am acting in accordance with this instruction and will keep you advised of developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
