TRAFFIC OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT STANDARDS COMMITTEE
(TOM SC)

The General Grades Committee have noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee following consideration of a periodic report from the Health and Safety Officer into matters discussed at TOM SC:

We note the reports on file from the Health and Safety Officer. The General Secretary is instructed to continue to provide regular reports. We further note the proposal of Chiltern Railway to carry out train dispatch by radio. The General secretary is further instructed to raise our concerns on this process with the Lead Officer who is to ensure that consultation with the Guard’s Company Council takes place.

Also of note is withdrawal of plans to allow train drivers to drive over diversionary routes without appropriate route knowledge – this is a victory for the trade unions.
