USE OF NON-SENTINEL STAFF WITHOUT PTS ON NWR INFRASTRUCTURE
FOR THE ATTENTION OF ALL NETWORK RAIL EMPLOYEES
I received a report relating to documentation received about the use of non-sentinel staff working without PTS on NWR infrastructure. This change in the way of working, which impacts on RMT members’ health and safety at work has not been subject to trade union consultation. In connection with this I wrote to the Company raising my concerns.
Your National Executive Committee, at its meeting on 5th May, noted and adopted the following report from its Health and Safety Sub-committee:
The General Secretary is instructed to circulate relevant communications to the National Safety Council, then after having received opinion from them either place this item on the next meeting of the National Health, Safety and Welfare Council or the National Maintenance Council.
I am acting in accordance with these instructions.
