Dear Colleague

Violence against Young Workers

On giving consideration to AGM item No.54, the Council of Executives noted and adopted the following resolution from their Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note and support the sentiments of the resolution from the AGM. We note in particular the concerns relating to young workers and believe that this is an appropriate point to review the Charter of Protection. We instruct the General Secretary to conduct a full review of the Charter and taking up, in particular, the risks to young workers. This review should include asking Lead Officers and Lead Safety Reps to assess how far the Charter’s aims have been achieved. In addition, the review should include possible publicity campaigns run by the RMT. A full report to be placed back in front of this Council of Executives.

Branches and Regional Councils be advised.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep you informed of developments with this case.

Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
Acting General Secretary
