WOMEN’S CANCERS AND WORK

AGM Item 56 called on the union to ensure that employers carry out their legal responsibilities regarding risk assessments, pay full sick pay and pay to attend hospital appointments to members absent from work due to cancer, not to count cancer in MFA procedures and to produce a ‘know your rights’ guidance about cancer. Further the resolution also called on the union to support campaigns to defend our NHS from cuts and privatisation.

The National Executive Committee have noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note and welcome the resolution on file and further note the verbatim minutes from the AGM that cancer effects all people. We instruct the General Secretary to take up the resolution’s issues around women and cancer but to also extend the campaign to all our members.

Branches and Regional Councils be advised.
