Dear Colleague

WORK AT HEIGHTS

Further to Head Office Circular NP/087/12, 12th April 2012 I am writing to inform you of developments with this case.

Despite writing to the company in May and June last year I am extremely disappointed to inform you that there has been very little movement from the company to resolve outstanding issues which we raised with them. Despite chasing them for the best part of six months we did not receive a reply from the company until December last year.

The company then tried to organise a meeting to discuss Work at Heights with RMT representatives where the company tried to not only dictate who represented the RMT but also included representatives from another union.

This case has again been considered by the General Grades Committee and on their instruction I have written to the company demanding a meeting with all of our nominated representatives in attendance. I have also asked the company to fulfil their commitment to share their risk assessments on work at heights and to establish working parties on S&T, Property and Maintenance and Telecoms.

I will keep you informed of developments with this case.

Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.

Yours sincerely

Bob Crow

General Secretary
