Dear Colleague,
WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 2022
World Mental Health Day is marked every year on October 10th to raise awareness about mental health around the world and to mobilise efforts to support those experiencing mental health issues.
Every year since 2013, the World Health Organization (WHO) has organized a global campaign for World Mental Health Day. The World Federation for Mental Health announced the theme for World Mental Health Day 2022, which is “Make mental health for all a global priority”.
RMT fully supports World Mental Health Day, and indeed any initiative that brings to the fore the issues faced by workers particularly in these times as they face fuel and food poverty, combined with fears of ever-rising mortgage and rent payments which leaves the threat of losing their home hanging over them.
There should be no stigma attached to mental health issues. I urge all members who are struggling with their mental wellbeing to seek assistance- and talk about it. RMT is here to help signpost our members to the appropriate assistance you may require.
Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
