Members who suffer an injury as the result of violent crime or are injured whilst trying to apprehend criminals or prevent a crime, may be entitled to an award under the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme.
An award will not be made if the offence was not promptly reported to the police or if any information is held back from them.
The scheme will not pay compensation if it is assessed at under £1,000. A claim must be made within two years of the incident.
Individuals may apply to the CICA on their own behalf. However, if you would like the union's solicitors to assist with a CICA claim you will need to fill in RMT's L1 form. The completed form should be sent to Head Office.
