To: The Secretary All Branches & Regional Councils/ East Coast Main Line

Dear Colleagues,

EAST COAST MAIN LINE SECTION OF THE RAILWAYS PENSION SCHEME - PENSIONS COMMITTEE / RMT APPOINTEE VACANCY

Please be advised that due to the term of office ending in November 2024 for the current RMT nominee on the East Coast Main Line Pensions Committee, a vacancy will arise in the RMT members constituency group. We therefore seek nomination for this position.

I would advise that the term of office is for 3 years and the current RMT nominee can be re-elected. The current nominee, Mr George Welch, has indicated that he will be re-standing for this position.

The administrators of the Pensions Committee, RailPen, have requested that the RMT appoints a candidate by1st October 2024 so that they can attend the next meeting to be held on 22nd November 2024.

Therefore, to ensure that the RMT continues to have a voice on this import committee I would request that if you have a member of the East Coast Main Line section of the RPS in your branch who is interested in standing for this position they need to send in the attached nomination form no later than Friday 6th September 2024.

In the event of more than one member standing a ballot amongst RMT members employed by East Coast Main Line will be held. Ballot papers will be sent out on Monday 9th September 2024 and the ballot will close on Monday 30th September 2024.

I would also ask that interested members complete an election address as this will need to be included in the ballot paper pack sent to members in the event of an election taking place.

Please send nominations to Paul Norris, RMT Pensions Officer, Unity House, 39 Chalton Street, London NW1 1JD or at p.norris@rmt.org.uk.

It is important that those wishing to apply for this position are fully aware of the responsibility, dedication and training they will need to put into this committee so to assist I have attached the committee members role description for your information.

I will keep you informed of developments.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Lynch
