To: The Secretary All Branches & Regional Councils/
(LNER) East Coast Main Line
Dear colleagues,
EAST COAST MAIN LINE SECTION OF THE RAILWAYS PENSION SCHEME - PENSIONS COMMITTEE / RMT APPOINTEE VACANCY
Please be advised that due to the term of office ending in November 2021 for the current RMT nominee on the East Coast Main Line Pensions Committee a vacancy will arise in the RMT members constituency group. We therefore seek nomination for this position.
I would advise that the term of office is for 3 years and the current RMT nominee can be re-elected. The current nominee, Mr George Welch, has indicated that he wishes to re-stand for this position.
The administrators of the Pensions Committee, RPMI, have requested that the RMT appoints a candidate by 22nd November 2021 so that they can take office by 10th December 2021.
Therefore, to ensure that the RMT continues to have a voice on this import committee I would request that if you have a member of the East Coast Main Line section of the RPS in your Branch who is interested in standing for this position they need to send in the attached nomination form no later than Friday 24th September 2021.
In the event of more than one member standing a ballot amongst RMT members employed by LNER will be held. Ballot papers will be sent out on Monday 4th October 2021 and the ballot will close on Monday 1st November 2021.
I would ask that interested members complete an election address as this will need to be included in the ballot paper pack sent to members in the event of an election taking place.
Please send nominations to Paul Norris, RMT Pensions Officer, Unity House, 39 Chalton Street, London NW1 1JD or at p.norris@rmt.org.uk.
It is important that those wishing to apply for this position are fully aware of the responsibility, dedication and training that is required to be effective on this committee. I have therefore attached the Committee Members Role Description for your information and should be read by interested members.
I will keep you informed of developments.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
