To: The Secretary All Branches & Regional Councils

Dear Colleagues,

Forth Ports group pension scheme – 2014 valuation & ending of contracting-out proposals

I refer to my previous Circular NP/074/16, 24th February 2016, as you will recall the RMT where in the process of balloting its members at Forth Ports over management’s disgraceful pension proposals. However, the Lead Office has reported that Unite the Union have informed the employer that they are no longer in dispute with them and therefore will not be balloting its members.

The Lead Officers report was placed before the National Executive Committee on 5th April 2016 where the following decision was made:

“We note the latest report from our Lead Officer dated 29th March 2016 regarding Unite the Unions decision to call of their dispute.

Accordingly, we instruct the General Secretary to inform the employer that we reluctantly call off our dispute and note that this is an imposition by the employer rather than general acceptance by our members and continue to oppose any dilution of our members’ pension entitlements.

Affected members and branches to be informed.”

I will keep you informed of developments.

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash
General Secretary
